Summer Cooperative Education/OYAP in the Skilled Trades for OYAP Students
You qualify for this program if you meet the following requirements:
- you’re 15 years or older;
- you’ve completed 16 secondary school credits, including at least one technology credit;
- you’re genuinely considering apprenticeship in a skilled trade after you finish secondary school.
It's Easy to Apply
- Pick up an application/information package from your school’s Student Services Office. These packages will be available by April.
- Discuss the program with your guidance counsellor, technology teachers and parents.
- Complete the application package and return it to your school’s Student Services Office. See application for specific due dates
- Prepare for interviews with the selection committee and the employer.
The summer school Cooperative Education program in the skilled trades is a project of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. It receives funding form the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development. It is part of the Ontatrio Youth Apprenticeship Program - a school-work transition program that allows students to complete secondary school while developing work skills and building up working hours towards the completion of an apprenticeship. This program is open to students from the Hamilton-Wentworth CDSB.
The registration fee will be collected on the first day of the pre-employment session. A receipt will be issued upon payment. All students must register on-line @ www.stcharles.ca
